Shell India Markets Pvt. Ltd, Global Marketing Advisor
Keeping our little corner of the planet clean and green may seem daunting at times, but we all now know that its each and every human’s responsibility to take charge of their contribution towards environmental protection. We now talk more and more about sustainable living. How do we achieve it? Environmental protection is the need of the hour. At Shell, our main motto as an organization is to protect the environment, reduce waste and make a positive contribution to biodiversity. Our ‘Respecting Nature’ commitments step up our approach to managing the impacts of our operations on the environment. We also aim to extend our approach with our supply chain, for example, with commitments around plastic and circular economy. This helps us in implementing the same mindset and we target to become a net-zero emissions business by 2050. We have been working with our global environmental partners who have been providing inputs to the development of our commitments and continue to support its implementation. We are developing an internal engagement program for our staff, in collaboration with Earthwatch to increase the understanding of global environmental challenges and help delivery of our commitments. I believe that being proactive will help in optimizing operations, reduce business risks and impacts to nature and build better relationship with communities and other stakeholders. I understand the huge responsibility I have in protecting the environment. The sharp focus that the Amity Group professes in protecting the environment has guided my thinking and response to environmental issues.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, Associate Vice President - Business Intelligence
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” - Aristotle Leadership is often thought of as a title, a role. However, I will contend that it is an attitude that one can apply in every situation. It does not require a certain pay scale, a promotion, a mass following, or popularity to become a leader. What true leadership does require is a leadership mindset and a willingness to learn and grow. For how can one possibly hope to make a change or difference in the world, without realizing and acknowledging our own strengths and shortcomings, and utilizing them to become effective agents of change? As a student, prior to joining Amity, leadership always meant being the first to volunteer, to shoulder responsibilities without seeking help, to hand out tasks to subordinates, to enjoy and bask in the credit and praise of an event well done. However, during my time as an MBA student in Amity and my professional journey as an executive with HSBC, moving on to South Indian Bank as a Senior Manager and now as the AVP of Business Intelligence Unit (Data Science) with Kotak Mahindra Bank, I came to realize that everything I knew and understood about leadership was the farthest thing from reality. It took quite a bit of unlearning, which was both unnerving and amazing at the same time. I came to realize that it is only by leading myself, that I could hope to inspire change with the teams and companies I worked for. Self-leadership looked like: Take responsibility for my thoughts and words Taking initiative and sending a clear message with my actions Having a clear understanding of priorities and how to go the extra mile Working on myself- constantly learning, seeking new information and actively applying it Doing what is expected and more without expecting praise and credit These, among other things, changed my mindset and guide me in my ever-continuing journey to becoming an effective leader. For by implementing these, I know that I am making an impact on people I am surrounded by and thereby, inspiring change in them as well. Suffice to say, self-leadership is crucial because it requires you to be acutely aware of your thoughts and who you are, and then molding this information to productive beliefs which will enable you to better achieve your goals.
Landchester Builders India Pvt Ltd, Chairman & Managing Director
A thought leader is someone who offers guidance and insight to those around them. A thought leader has a positive reputation of helping others with their knowledge and insight. My experience as a 1st generation entrepreneur from my family revealed that thought leadership is one of the most important aspects for the success of any venture. No one becomes a thought leader overnight. As a thought leader you are required to analyse, understand, and offer guidance and insights to the people who are part of the organization. The knowledge imparted to me at Amity has immensely built my confidence in focusing on what I know best and look for opportunities to express it frequently. The Amity way of thinking helped me to make conscious effort to understand and listen to what others have to say. The constant guidance from professors and the group activities conducted at Amity helped me to be focused and lead my team to stay focused and evolve with the changing industry needs.

'The measure of intelligence is the ability to change' -Albert Einstein. We all have dreamt of reaching the stars at some point of time in our lives. But some dreams are tough to achieve. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. As a person I have understood how crucial is the art of managing change, be it work related or at the personal level. Change management for an organization would mean assessing one’s situation and analyzing changes that is needed, aligning one’s efforts and resources, and managing the change itself. Change management should enable you to lead your employees, teams, departments and organization towards thriving and benefiting from the change, rather than reacting and merely surviving it—or even worse, seeing no results from the change efforts. Most people don’t want to accept change since they don’t want to go out of their comfort zone. I feel that adaptability is something that any organization looks as a skill or a value adding factor of any employee. How soon can you adapt to any change is very important. Resisting change and not adapting to changes are some of the workplace issues I have been dealing with. The lessons learnt at Amity have helped me take up challenges head on and has molded me into a person who is able to implement and sustain change and also pull my team along by encouraging them to play their strengths.
